Let me introduce myself, my name is Hazel Green and I love to cross stitch. In January of 1999 my 5 year old son, Michael, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He has fortunately been in remission since February 1999 and is doing great! He has been off treatment since July 17, 2001 and is presently being followed at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Having a child diagnosed with cancer is very difficult to take. No one ever wants to hear those words! But there is no changing the diagnosis...you have no choice but to deal with the fact that your child has cancer. It is a long and difficult road. There were a few non-profit organizations that helped us out. One of them was the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Trust of Eastern Ontario and Western Québec, whom we had a successful fundraiser for in 2000. We also have been very fortunate to be able to attend Camp Trillium.
Quilting experience is required. Looking forward to hearing from you. ALSO I HAD A COMPUTER CRASH LAST YEAR AND LOST MANY
EMAILS... PLEASE RESEND YOUR EMAIL ADDRESSES TO ME. In previous years volunteers online and locally donated their time to cross stitch squares of teddy bears for my fundraiser. This year we have opened up some new themes but will also still have our main theme of teddy bears as long as they fit within the square size requirements. The decision to fundraise for Camp Trillium was an easy one as our family has had the pleasure of attending this camp for 9 years now and it has been quite an uplifting experience. Fundraising for Camp Trillium is our family's way of trying to give back a little of what has been given to us. Camp Trillium is in Picton, Ontario and all the children who go to this camp from areas in Ontario will benefit from our fundraiser.
